Aims and Ethos
At Headfort we believe strongly in an all-round education. Academic work is central, and our pupils are taught by specialists with a passion for their subjects. Sport on a daily basis is also key, both for its own sake and for the fact that exercise and fresh air act as such powerful aids to classroom learning.
Headfort aims to inculcate in its pupils a sense of self-confidence — tempered by awareness of other people’s needs. We encourage our pupils to express their own individuality and to seek their own paths; but we teach them that their rights as individuals must always be balanced by a sense of duty and obligation to the wider community.
The school is non-denominational, which means that we respect all religious faiths or, indeed, none. In a wider sense, everything we do is embued with a commitment to what might be termed ‘character education’.
